Indonesia search operations continue for missing persons after maritime accidents

Search and rescue operations are underway in Indonesia following two separate maritime accidents involving missing persons.

In Lumajang, East Java, a joint SAR team is conducting its second day of searching for Rizky Andi Dhermawan (33) after his boat capsized due to waves at Pandanwangi Beach. While two other passengers survived the incident, the search continues across a 7.2 square mile sea area and a 7-kilometer stretch of coastline.

In West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara, the search for Veronica Beatrix Jessica has entered its fifth day following the sinking of the KM Feronia tourist boat near Tatawa Island. The vessel capsized after encountering strong currents. A team of 226 personnel is expanding the search area up to 50 nautical miles from the site, utilizing advanced technology including multibeam sonar, side scan sonar, and remotely operated vehicles (ROV) to scan depths between 47 and 100 meters.
