Indonesia Secures UK Support for CPTPP Accession

Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto met with UK Trade Commissioner for Asia Pacific Martin Kent in Jakarta to deepen bilateral economic cooperation. The talks reviewed the Indonesia‑United Kingdom Economic Growth Partnership, signed in January 2026, and outlined joint priorities in human‑resource development, energy, investment and a transition to a sustainable economy.

The United Kingdom reiterated its backing for Indonesia’s accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans‑Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), describing Jakarta’s membership as a boost to the high‑standard trade bloc’s relevance in the Indo‑Pacific. Both sides said the partnership will expand market access, strengthen supply‑chain resilience and support inclusive, sustainable growth.
