Indonesia seeks Chinese investment and agricultural technology
Indonesia's Minister of Transmigration, M. Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara, is conducting a working visit to China from October 12 to 18, 2026, to explore cooperation in modern agriculture, industrial downstreaming, and industrialization.
The initiative aims to transform transmigration areas into productive economic hubs that create jobs and increase income, particularly outside of Java. By studying China's experience in integrating agriculture, infrastructure development, and rural economic revitalization, Indonesia seeks to implement similar models to create added value through technology and human resource development.
Scheduled meetings include discussions with China's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) regarding production technology and agricultural processing. The visit also involves the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center (FEC) to explore technological advancements and economic cooperation in the agricultural sector.
