Indonesia sees surge in water refill and dispenser market as consumers seek cost‑saving, eco‑friendly options

Indonesian consumers are increasingly turning to refillable water models and modern dispensers to cut expenses and reduce plastic waste. A NielsenIQ mid‑year outlook shows shoppers are more cautious with spending, while a PwC survey highlights cost‑of‑living pressure as a top concern. About 62 % of respondents say climate change matters to them and 57 % prefer products with eco‑friendly packaging.

The trend is evident in cafés where patrons bring their own tumblers for discounted drinks, and at home where families opt for refillable water supplies. Handi Irawan, founder of PT Biru Semesta Abadi, notes that this shift reflects a broader demand for long‑term value and sustainability. The market response includes popular dispenser brands such as Miyako, offering hot water up to 95 °C, Sharp with low power consumption, and Sanken with stainless‑steel tanks, all marketed as efficient and durable solutions for the growing refill culture.
