Former Jakarta senior prosecutor Febrie Adriansyah has been designated a suspect in three separate corruption and money‑laundering investigations involving PT Asabri, PT Krakatau Steel and a coal procurement scheme. He was examined by the Kejaksaan Agung on 17 July 2026, answered 18 questions and was not placed in detention.
High‑profile lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea officially took on the role of Adriansyah’s counsel, confirming receipt of a power‑of‑attorney on the day of the examination. Hotman has repeatedly asserted that the allegations lack solid evidence and that his client was not arrested.
Legal scholars, including Prof. Suparji Ahmad, argue that naming Adriansyah a suspect without prior interrogation breaches Indonesia’s constitutional due‑process guarantees, a view echoed by anti‑corruption activists who note no presidential approval is required for such designations.
