Roy Suryo Files New Pretrial Challenge Over Jakarta Ijazah Fraud Case
Former minister Roy Suryo has submitted another pretrial motion to contest his designation as a suspect under Indonesia’s Internet Law (Article 32 ITE) in the case alleging former President Joko Widodo falsified an academic degree. The court set the first hearing for July 10, 2026, but the schedule is delayed pending the new pretrial request.
Suryo warned he will stage strong protests if Jokowi participates in the trial via a video conference, insisting on a physical appearance in court and demanding dismissal of the case if key witnesses fail to attend. He maintains that the ITE provision is misapplied and faces a potential eight‑year prison term if convicted.
