Indonesia sets salaries for Kopdes Merah Putih managers

The Indonesian government has established monthly salaries for managers of the Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih (Kopdes Merah Putih), ranging from approximately Rp6.3 million to Rp8.3 million. Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan stated that these figures include all allowances and are adjusted based on the regional minimum wage (UMK) of the assigned area to reflect the heavy responsibility of driving village-level economic development.

Managers will be employed under a fixed-term employment agreement (PKWT) for a duration of two years, operating under PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara (Persero). The government aims to complete the placement of all managers by October 1, 2026.

To address the shortage of operational cooperatives relative to trained personnel, some managers will initially be assigned to locations outside their home provinces. Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono noted that approximately 1,900 managers, or 11 percent of the total, have received cross-provincial assignments. The government intends to relocate managers closer to their original domiciles once sufficient Kopdes facilities become available.
