Indonesia shares anti-corruption strategies with Nigeria

Nigeria is exploring anti-corruption strategies used by Indonesia to strengthen its own fight against corruption. During the second International Diplomatic Dialogue in Abuja, organized by the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria, officials discussed the successes and methods of Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Representatives from the Indonesian Embassy highlighted that the KPK has successfully prosecuted hundreds of high-profile officials, including ministers, governors, lawmakers, and judges. A key component of their success has been the use of intelligence-led sting operations, which are legally supported by Indonesian law and require prior case-building and investigative data validation.

The Chairman of Nigeria’s Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Aliyu, noted that Nigeria can learn from Indonesia’s institutional reforms, enforcement, and prevention strategies to address corruption as a barrier to economic growth and social justice.
