Indonesia streamlines foreign worker and investor permits
The Indonesian government is implementing measures to streamline the permit process for foreign workers (TKA) and investors. In Kendal, the Semarang Immigration Office and PT Kawasan Industri Kendal (KIK) have established the ‘Ultima I’M SEZ’ service unit directly within the industrial zone. This unit serves as a center for immigration information, consultation, and document processing, allowing investors and foreign workers to bypass travel to Semarang.
On a national level, the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming aims to complete foreign worker permit processes within a maximum of five days. Minister Rosan Roeslani stated that the government is integrating platforms from the Ministry of Investment, the Ministry of Manpower, and the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services. This integrated system, expected to be operational by late September 2026, is designed to provide legal certainty and efficiency for businesses by ensuring a connected service flow across the three relevant ministries.
