Indonesia strengthens KIP Kuliah subsidy targeting through DTSEN data integration

The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Commission VIII is urging universities to improve the accuracy of Kartu Indonesia Pintar (KIP) Kuliah recipient data by cross-referencing it with the National Single Social and Economic Data (DTSEN). This measure aims to ensure that educational subsidies reach students from low-income families, specifically those in deciles 1 through 4.

To support this, the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) has emphasized that social and economic data is dynamic and requires active public participation to remain accurate. Students and vulnerable families can independently check and update their decile status through official BPS channels to ensure policy targeting remains effective.

In Gorontalo, Universitas Bina Taruna (UNBITA) has announced opportunities for prospective students within the decile 1–4 range to access KIP Kuliah benefits. These benefits include coverage of tuition fees through graduation and monthly living allowances, aimed at making higher education more affordable for economically disadvantaged groups.
