Indonesia strengthens livestock downstreaming and self-sufficiency
Indonesia is focusing on the downstreaming of its livestock sector following the achievement of self-sufficiency in broiler meat and eggs. The Ministry of Agriculture aims to use this milestone to boost productivity, investment, and farmer welfare by building an integrated ecosystem that connects producers, industry, technology, and markets.
In East Java, regional efforts are also targeting livestock expansion. Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa visited the Livestock Breeding and Forage Technical Implementation Unit in Batu to promote the development of dairy cattle. The initiative focuses on improving seed quality, milk productivity, and downstreaming products to increase the economic value of the sector and contribute to regional income.
