Indonesia targets authentic tourism experiences for 2027 development

Deputy Tourism Minister Ni Luh Puspa has outlined a strategic direction for Indonesia's tourism development leading up to 2027. Speaking at the Indonesia Tourism & MICE Outlook 2027, she emphasized the need to create new value by prioritizing authentic, personal, and meaningful travel experiences to meet shifting global traveler preferences.

Indonesia aims to leverage its rich cultural heritage, diverse destinations, and hospitality to transform its potential into high-value, competitive tourism experiences that provide broader economic benefits to local communities.

In 2025, the Indonesian tourism sector recorded 15.39 million international visitor arrivals and approximately 1.2 billion domestic trips, generating foreign exchange earnings of approximately US$18.27 billion. These figures serve as a foundation for the country's upcoming tourism development goals.
