Indonesia Tax Office Blocks 571 Accounts Over Rp70.2 bn in Unpaid Taxes
The Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) for West Sumatra and Jambi blocked 571 bank accounts belonging to 50 taxpayers, representing arrears of roughly Rp70.2 billion. The action, carried out on 3‑4 June 2026 in cooperation with 21 financial institutions, was described as a final step after taxpayers failed to show good faith despite prior notices, warning letters and forced notices.
To lift the block, the DJP outlined three routes: full settlement of the tax debt and collection costs; provision of a guarantee of equivalent value; or an approved request for an instalment plan or payment deferral. Non‑compliance may lead to further enforcement such as asset seizure, auction, travel bans or other legal measures. The measures are based on Law No 19/1997 on Tax Collection (as amended by Law No 14/2002) and Ministerial Regulation No 61/2023 on tax collection procedures.
