Indonesia to build 1,988 new community health centers by 2027

Indonesia's Deputy Health Minister, Benjamin Paulus Octavianus, announced plans to build 1,988 new community health centers (Puskesmas) by 2027 to strengthen national healthcare services. The initiative targets sub-districts currently lacking facilities, centers that are severely damaged, and those serving populations exceeding 60,000 people.

In addition to new constructions, the government plans to renovate 8,001 moderately damaged Puskesmas units and develop public health laboratories. The broader program aims to improve or renovate a total of 14,951 units across 7,285 sub-districts. New facility designs include single-story models covering approximately 2,660 square meters of land and two-story models covering approximately 2,420 square meters of land. The estimated budget for each Puskesmas renovation is approximately Rp4 billion.
