Indonesia to Host 8th Asian Taekwondo Open Championships in August 2026

Indonesia will host the 8th Asian Taekwondo Indonesia Open Championships, a World Taekwondo G2 event, from 1 – 5 August 2026 at the Indoor Tennis arena in Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan, Jakarta. The tournament will feature hundreds of athletes from 32 nations, including powerhouses such as South Korea, Japan, China Taipei, the United States, Russia, Turkey, the Netherlands, Australia and several African and Latin American countries.

The Asian Taekwondo Union and World Taekwondo have appointed Indonesia as host, praising the organisational capacity of the Pengurus Besar Taekwondo Indonesia (PBTI) led by Lieutenant General Richard Tampubolon. Indonesian athletes will field a team of 31 competitors, seeking medals and valuable ranking points toward the World Championships and the Olympic Games.
