Indonesia to prioritize teacher recruitment in specific provinces for 2027
The Indonesian government will allocate Civil Servant Candidate (CPNS) teacher formations starting in 2027 based on regional needs and specific subjects. West Java, Central Java, and East Java have been identified as the regions with the highest requirements.
Nunuk Suryani, Director General of Teachers, Education Personnel, and Teacher Education at the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, stated that recruitment will not be uniform across the country. Instead, the government will implement a phased priority system to address teacher shortages, considering factors such as retirement projections, school distribution, and existing teacher data. The calculation also accounts for approximately 178,000 non-ASN teachers.
This recruitment plan is part of a broader roadmap to fulfill national educator needs, distinct from the Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK) program. The initial phase in 2027 aims to meet a portion of the national requirement, with subsequent stages depending on the selection process and available formations.
