Indonesia to provide TNI recruitment privileges for Dayak people

Indonesian Defense Minister Sjafrie Syamsoeddin announced that the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) will provide special considerations and privileges for members of the inland Dayak tribe during the recruitment process. These adjustments may include leniency regarding physical standards, such as height requirements, to facilitate their entry into military service.

Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak noted that Dayak people have historically been allowed to apply, and specifically mentioned that traditional tattoos are not an issue as they are part of the community's culture. The military aims to increase representation from various regions across Indonesia as it expands its personnel.
