Indonesia to seal seven companies over Kalimantan forest fires

The Indonesian Ministry of Environment is mobilizing multiple agencies to combat forest and land fires (karhutla) in Kalimantan. Minister Mohammad Jumhur Hidayat stated that the response involves the TNI, Polri, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), local governments, forestry agencies, and the Ministry of Environment.

While the primary focus remains on extinguishing active fires, the government is pursuing legal action against those responsible. Minister Hidayat announced that seven companies suspected of having strong links to the fires in Kalimantan will face sealing measures within the week.
