Indonesia tourism data shows growth in priority destinations and holiday travel

The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism has released 2025 tourism statistics for 10 Priority Tourism Destinations (DPP) and three Regenerative Tourism Destinations (DPR). The data, compiled with the Central Bureau of Statistics and the Ministry of Investment, includes indicators such as visitor numbers, investment realization, and tourism workforce profiles.

Key destinations highlighted include Lake Toba, Borobudur-Yogyakarta-Prambanan, Lombok, Labuan Bajo, Manado-Likupang, Wakatobi, Raja Ampat, Bromo-Tengger-Semeru, Bangka Belitung, and Morotai. The regenerative destinations include Bali, Greater Jakarta, and the Riau Islands. Notably, Bali recorded 7.04 million international visitor arrivals in 2025.

Complementing these official statistics, travel platform Agoda reported a significant surge in domestic travel interest during the Indonesian Independence Day long weekend in August 2026. Search data indicated that interest in domestic travel increased more than fourfold. Popular destinations for travelers included Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Bali, alongside rising interest in nature-oriented spots like Pangandaran and Garut.
