Indonesia tourism sector shows growth through July 2026

Indonesia's tourism sector has demonstrated positive performance through July 2026, despite global economic uncertainties. According to data from the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), foreign tourist arrivals between January and July 2026 reached 8.98 million, representing a 5.23 percent increase compared to the same period in the previous year.

Growth was observed across several key markets, including an 8.69 percent increase from other Asian regions, 7.32 percent from Southeast Asia, and 7.26 percent from Oceania. Tourism from the Middle East has also seen a recovery, while the European market is beginning to show signs of improvement following a period of contraction.

Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana stated that these results indicate the government's market diversification strategies are yielding results. In the first half of 2026, tourism foreign exchange earnings reached USD 8.43 billion (approximately IDR 145.13 trillion), a 2.88 percent increase from the USD 8.20 billion recorded in the first half of 2025.
