Indonesia trade pact ratification urged by Golkar lawmaker Sarifah Suraidah Harum

Golkar legislator Sarifah Suraidah Harum called for the accelerated ratification of four international trade agreements, stressing that the deals must deliver concrete benefits for Indonesian small‑ and medium‑sized enterprises (SMEs) and the broader industrial sector. She highlighted that faster approvals could open new export markets for products ranging from manufactured goods to agricultural and fisheries output, increase foreign exchange earnings, and create jobs. Harum added that successful implementation will require supportive policies such as productivity boosts, logistics improvements, streamlined licensing, digital trade facilitation, and ongoing assistance to help SMEs meet global standards.

The proposed agreements involve partners across ASEAN, China and the Eurasian Economic Union, and are presented as a strategic response to global economic uncertainties, aiming to strengthen Indonesia’s competitiveness both domestically and abroad.
