Danantara invests US$250 million in US energy firm HighPeak Energy
PT Danantara Investment Management (DIM), the investment holding under Danantara Indonesia, has announced a strategic investment of US$250 million (approximately Rp4.47 trillion) in the Texas-based oil and gas company HighPeak Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: HPK).
The transaction will be executed in stages through the issuance of convertible preferred stocks. This move aims to expand Indonesia's global energy portfolio by gaining access to assets in the Permian Basin, the largest oil-producing region in the United States.
Beyond financial returns, the partnership seeks to facilitate technology transfers, specifically in horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing (fracking) techniques. These technologies are intended to be applied to mature onshore oil and gas fields in Indonesia to boost national production. As part of the agreement, HighPeak will implement training and secondment programs for Indonesian workers to encourage technical expertise exchange in the upstream sector.
