PBSI announces 20-player badminton squad for 2026 Asian Games
The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) has officially announced its 20-player squad for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. The roster includes 10 men and 10 women selected through a comprehensive evaluation of physical condition, technical skills, and performance. Key members of the men's team include Jonatan Christie, Fajar Alfian, and Leo Rolly Carnando, while the women's team features Putri Kusuma Wardani and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti. A notable new mixed doubles pairing will consist of Nikolaus Joaquin and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti.
In separate tournament news, Indonesian men's doubles pair Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani advanced to the round of 16 at the China Masters 2026 in Shenzhen. They secured their victory by defeating South Korean pair Kang Min-hyuk and Ki Dong-ju. Other Indonesian representatives, including Jonatan Christie and Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin, have also progressed in the tournament.
Additionally, the Indonesian Ambassador to Japan, Nurmala Kartini Sjahrir, expressed appreciation for the Indonesian U-16 badminton team following their runner-up finish at the Tokyo International Youth Sports Games 2026.
