Indonesia unemployment rate falls to 14.9% in Q2 2026
The unemployment rate in Indonesia decreased slightly to 14.9% in the second quarter of 2026, down from 15% in the previous quarter, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
The total number of unemployed individuals fell to 622,400, a reduction of 19,300 compared to the first quarter. While the unemployment rate for men dropped by 0.5 percentage points to 11.8%, the rate for women rose by 0.9 percentage points to 21.6%.
Youth unemployment (ages 15 to 24) also saw a decline, reaching 35.4% compared to 37.5% in the first quarter. Geographically, the unemployment rate was 14.8% in urban areas and 15.0% in rural areas. However, unemployment among higher education graduates increased to 26.6%, up from 24.2% in the previous quarter.
The active population decreased by 77,500 people to 4,190,500, and the labor force participation rate fell by 1.2 percentage points to 44.7%.
