Indonesia urges comfortable homes and stronger family guidance to protect Gen Z mental health

Comfortable living spaces are being promoted as a key factor in safeguarding the mental health of Indonesia's Generation Z. Experts highlight that clean, well‑lit rooms with good ventilation, orderly furnishings and dedicated quiet corners can help young people unwind, improve focus and reduce stress after long periods of study, work or screen time.

At the same time, parents, educators and community leaders warn that unchecked digital socialisation is exposing youths to behaviours and values that may erode moral foundations. They call for renewed family presence, character‑building education and measured supervision of social‑media use to provide emotional and spiritual support, arguing that balanced guidance is essential to prevent identity confusion and social conflict among teenagers.
