Indonesia urges two-state solution and Gaza reconstruction at UN

During meetings at the United Nations General Assembly, Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono called for the acceleration of a two-state solution to address ongoing violence and displacement in Palestine. He urged nations that have not yet recognized Palestinian statehood to do so, stating that such recognition helps dismantle the occupation.

Sugiono also emphasized that peace in the Gaza Strip must involve more than just the absence of violence; it must include the restoration of dignified living conditions. He stressed that humanitarian aid should focus on long-term recovery, including the reconstruction of essential infrastructure and basic services. Indonesia expressed strong opposition to illegal Israeli settlement expansions, specifically citing the E1 settlement plan, and called for the protection of the legal status of holy sites in Jerusalem.

Indonesia has committed to continuing humanitarian assistance and capacity building for Palestine. Additionally, Indonesia and the Netherlands will co-host the next Global Alliance meeting in The Hague this November.
