Indonesia vehicle tax penalties and mobile Samsat service schedule
Vehicle owners in Indonesia face late‑payment penalties that consist of two components: the Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) calculated at 25 % per year of the tax value, applied proportionally to the number of months overdue, and the compulsory traffic accident fund contribution (SWDKLLJ) set at Rp 100 000 per year of delay. For example, a car with a PKB of Rp 2 million incurs about Rp 41 667 in PKB penalty for one month plus Rp 100 000 SWDKLLJ, totalling roughly Rp 141 667. If the payment is a full year late, the PKB penalty rises to Rp 500 000, making the total about Rp 600 000. Penalties increase further after a year and include the next year's tax base.
The Jakarta Metropolitan Police, together with the Jakarta Regional Treasury Office and Jasa Raharja, operate a mobile "Samsat Keliling" service on 15 June 2026 to simplify annual STNK renewal and tax payment. The service covers central Jakarta, the five surrounding districts, and nearby cities such as Tangerang, Bekasi, Depok and others, operating between 08:00 and 15:00 local time depending on location. Participants must bring original KTP, STNK and vehicle ownership book, and the service only handles one‑year STNK extensions, not five‑year renewals or other vehicle transactions.
