Indonesia wildfire relief: Health aid in Tarakan and water support in Palangka Raya

Efforts to combat the impact of forest and land fires (karhutla) and resulting haze are underway in several Indonesian regions.

In Tarakan, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has distributed health supplies to residents and emergency responders affected by haze. The aid, provided between August and September 2026, includes 1,850 KN95 masks, 420 vitamin packages, 720 cans of sterile milk, as well as respirators and cartridges. Recipients include local disaster management agencies (BPBD), forest management units, and fire departments, as well as citizens working outdoors.

In Palangka Raya, the Palangka Raya City DPRD Secretariat is supporting wildfire task forces by providing water supplies. Utilizing a 10,000-liter water tank, the secretariat has supplied water to TNI personnel and joint teams for firefighting and land wetting operations, particularly near Jalan Soekarno, where direct water access from ditches was not feasible.
