Indonesia wins nine awards at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026

Indonesia secured nine awards at the WorldSkills Competition (WSC) Shanghai 2026, finishing 19th out of 74 participating nations. The Indonesian delegation was the largest to date, consisting of 20 students and 17 experts.

Representatives from East Java contributed three of these honors. Edsel Parama Mustapa earned a silver medal in Software Applications Development, while Reno Surya Permana and Rouf Aufa Rifqi received Medallions for Excellence in the Mechatronics team category.

Aries Agung Paewai, Head of the East Java Education Office, emphasized that these achievements demonstrate the ability of local vocational talent to compete against international industry standards. He noted that the results should serve as an evaluation tool to improve vocational education, specifically regarding curriculum alignment, training methods, and the expertise of instructors to meet global benchmarks.
