Indonesia Youth Summit 2026 emphasizes youth leadership and digital innovation

The Indonesia Youth Summit (IYS) 2026, organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, was held at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta, on October 29-30, 2026. The event focused on the theme “Youth for the Future: Leading Change, Creating Impact,” aiming to prepare the younger generation for the “Indonesia Emas 2045” vision.

Key officials, including Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Sugiono and Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir, addressed participants. Sugiono emphasized that the success of the nation depends on a high-quality youth generation that is brave, innovative, and capable of making things happen. Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid urged young leaders to move from being mere digital consumers to digital creators, particularly in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), to bolster Indonesia's digital economy.

The summit also included the presentation of the Wirasena 2026 awards to provincial governments for their achievements in youth development. Additionally, various competitions were held, such as the Wirasena Debate Competition, where participants discussed the societal implications of generative AI in the arts.
