Indonesian and Dutch Marine Corps seek enhanced defense cooperation
The Indonesian Navy Marine Corps (Kormar) and the Netherlands military are working to strengthen defense ties through joint training and new strategic dialogue platforms. During a meeting in Jakarta between Commandant of the Marine Corps Lieutenant General Endi Supardi and Dutch Defense Attaché Colonel Hans van Reenen, several cooperation initiatives were discussed.
A primary focus of the partnership involves skill-sharing, with plans for two to three instructors from the Royal Netherlands Navy Marine Corps to visit Indonesia to study specialized jungle survival and jungle warfare tactics.
To further institutionalize the relationship, officials proposed the creation of a ‘Marines-to-Marines Talk’ forum. This platform is intended to expand upon existing ‘Navy-to-Navy’ dialogues, providing a dedicated space for both corps to discuss defense system enhancements and professional communication. The meeting also included plans for goodwill visits between high-ranking marine commanders to foster leadership ties.
