Indonesian and Japanese universities expand academic and cultural ties

Indonesian and Japanese academic institutions are expanding bilateral ties through new educational and research initiatives.

Universitas Paramadina, in collaboration with Nagasaki Women’s Junior College and AWINA, hosted the “Bridges Beyond Borders” event. The program focused on strengthening Indonesia-Japan relations through cultural understanding, history, and people-to-people connections, emphasizing the role of the younger generation in building mutual respect.

Separately, Universitas Indonesia (UI) and Tohoku University held discussions to strengthen cooperation in research, innovation, and student mobility. Key topics included interdisciplinary research opportunities, particularly regarding the social and humanistic perspectives of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The institutions aim to utilize alumni networks and online research matching to facilitate deeper academic diplomacy and collaborative scientific advancement.
