Indonesian Army (TNI) Delivers 2 Tons Aid to Drought‑Stricken Central Papua
The Koops TNI Habema command dispatched two tons of humanitarian supplies—including rice, staple food packages, instant noodles, sugar, nutritious milk for infants and children, and medicines—to isolated communities in the districts of Agandugume, Oneri and Lambewi, Puncak Regency, Central Papua, on 1 August 2026. Air transport brought the cargo to an emergency helipad, after which soldiers trekked dozens of kilometres over steep, fog‑filled mountain terrain, crossing rivers and slippery slopes to reach the villages.
Brigadier General Stefie Jantje Nuhujanan, head of the territorial task force, said the operation shows the armed forces’ role extends beyond security to directly addressing the food crisis caused by prolonged extreme weather and drought that began in June 2026. Local district head Lanius Wenda thanked the troops for risking their lives to deliver the aid, which is intended to alleviate the severe shortage of food and nutrition in the affected areas.
