Beatrice Gumulya and Novela Putria win padel bronze at Asian Games
Indonesian padel players Novela Putria and Beatrice Gumulya secured a bronze medal in the women’s pairs event at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan. After losing their semifinal match 0-2 to the Japanese duo Saki Tsukamoto and Kae Tokumoto, the pair moved to the third-place playoff.
In the bronze medal match held on October 3, 2026, Novela and Beatrice defeated the Philippine pair, Danna Abad and Joshe, with a score of 2-0. This victory marks a significant comeback for Beatrice Gumulya, a former national tennis player who transitioned to padel two years ago.
Beatrice noted that while she initially took up padel for recreation after retiring from tennis, intensive training in Spain helped prepare her for the international stage. The bronze medal contributes to Indonesia’s growing medal tally at the games.
