Indonesian Attorney General proposes higher allowances for remote staff

The Indonesian Attorney General's Office has proposed an increase in welfare allowances for prosecutors and staff serving in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions. During a meeting with Commission III of the DPR RI, Deputy Attorney General Asep Nana Mulyana requested additional budget allocations for 2027 to cover performance allowances, functional position allowances, and facilities to offset high costs of living and transportation in these remote areas.

The proposal is part of a larger request for an additional Rp22.1 trillion for the 2027 fiscal year. The current budget ceiling of Rp21.5 trillion is noted as insufficient to meet the ideal requirement of Rp43.6 trillion. Beyond welfare, the additional funds are intended to cover personnel costs following the transition of thousands of contract workers to permanent status and the transfer of staff from the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services.
