Indonesian authorities seize illegal goods and narcotics in Riau and Bangka Belitung
Indonesian customs authorities have conducted significant enforcement actions against illegal goods and narcotics in the Riau and Bangka Belitung regions.
In Bengkalis, Riau, Customs officials destroyed state-owned illegal goods valued at approximately Rp5.9 billion. The seized items included 658 mobile phones, over one million illegal cigarettes, and roughly 300 liters of alcoholic beverages. Dwijo Muryono, Head of the Riau Customs Regional Office, noted that the potential loss to state revenue from these seizures is estimated at Rp1.7 billion.
In Bangka Belitung, a joint operation between Customs and the Regional Police (Polda Babel) resulted in a major narcotics seizure. Authorities confiscated 16.465 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (sabu) and 4,980 ecstasy pills. Junanto Kurniawan, Head of the Pangkalpinang Customs Office, stated that the operation led to the apprehension of a suspect identified by the initials AS and aims to disrupt local drug distribution networks.
