Indonesian authorities seize thousands of illegal cigarettes in Jepara and Jombang

Authorities in Indonesia have conducted several operations to combat the distribution of illegal cigarettes. In Jepara, a joint task force comprising Customs, Satpol PP, and local police seized 7,290 sticks of illegal cigarettes from two shops in Sukosono Village. The operation focused on educating merchants about excise regulations and the risks of selling products without proper tax stamps.

In a separate operation in Jombang, Customs and Satpol PP uncovered a mobile distribution method involving modified motorcycles equipped with display racks and large bags. This tactic allowed sellers to move through rural areas and crowds during the night. Officers seized 15,916 sticks of illegal cigarettes, with an estimated value of approximately Rp23.9 million, preventing potential state losses of over Rp15.6 million.
