Antam gold prices hit 2.5-month high amid US-Iran sanction threats

Antam gold prices in Indonesia rose by Rp18,000 per gram on August 25, 2026, reaching Rp2,768,000 per gram. This surge marks the highest price level for the commodity in over 2.5 months. Buyback prices also increased to Rp2,628,000 per gram.

Simultaneously, geopolitical tensions are impacting global markets. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has warned China and other nations of potential secondary sanctions if they continue business with Iran through 'Operation Economic Outcast.' This campaign targets sectors including digital assets, technology, gold, aviation, and shipping.

In Indonesia, economic indicators show a widening current account deficit, which reached USD12.5 billion (3.3 percent of GDP) in the second quarter of 2026. While banking credit grew by 13.58% year-on-year in July 2026, the rupiah has faced pressure due to these deficits and global economic uncertainty.
