Indonesian cities implement overhead cable management programs
Local governments in Indonesia are implementing measures to manage overhead utility cables. In Bandung, the city government has temporarily suspended cable tidying activities from October 12 to October 26, 2026. This pause is intended to allow telecommunications operators to restore internet services in residential areas affected by recent infrastructure adjustments, including Antapani, Arcamanik, and Sukamiskin.
In Jakarta, the provincial government is preparing a phased five-year plan to organize overhead cables across five regions ahead of the city's 500th anniversary in 2027. The strategy involves strengthening integrated utility network master plans, encouraging providers to relocate cables independently, cutting inactive lines, and elevating active cables. Officials noted that approximately 50 percent of overhead cables are estimated to be inactive and will be prioritized for removal to improve urban safety and aesthetics.
