Indonesian Customs Crackdown Yields Rp 27.6 trillion Revenue and Destroys Rp 916 million of Illicit Goods

The Yogyakarta Customs Office, together with Satpol PP DIY and other local agencies, destroyed seized illegal items on 28 July 2026. The destroyed stock included illegal tobacco worth about Rp 611 million, 109.2 L of ethyl‑alcohol drinks, 16 bottles of Bali arak, 26 mobile phones and 1,127.5 units of psychotropic drugs, totaling roughly Rp 916 million in value and averting an estimated loss of Rp 384 million to the state.

In the first half of 2026, the East Java Regional Customs Office (Kanwil DJBC Jawa Timur II) reported that customs revenue reached Rp 27.61 trillion, about 43.7 % of its annual target. During the same period the agency seized 71.1 million illegal cigarettes, estimating a saved loss of Rp 59.9 billion and a total illegal‑goods value of Rp 106.9 billion. The office highlighted its role as a revenue collector and community protector, noting the formation of a task force to curb illegal tobacco trade and its collaboration with government, industry and civil society.
