Indonesian dangdut artists pursue new collaborations and UNESCO recognition

Indonesian dangdut musicians are engaging in new creative and advocacy efforts. Singer King Nassar has announced a new collaboration with songwriter Pasha Ungu for his latest single, ‘Astaga Naga’. This marks a reunion between the two, following their previous successful work on the song ‘Seperti Mati Lampu’ in 2012.

In a separate development, senior singer Nana Mardiana has stepped up to support the movement for UNESCO recognition of dangdut music. Serving as the Chairperson of the Committee for the Public Discussion ‘Ngulik Soal Musik Dangdut’ organized by the Indonesian Entertainment Journalists Forum (FORWAN), Mardiana expressed that her involvement is part of a collective responsibility to strengthen dangdut as a cultural identity and bring it to global recognition.
