Indonesian defender Mees Hilgers faces uncertain future at FC Twente

Mees Hilgers, a 25‑year‑old centre‑back for the Indonesian national team, is in contract limbo with Dutch club FC Twente. An automatic one‑year extension kept him under contract through next summer, but he has not reported to training. Coach John van den Brom told ESPN, "I have not seen or spoken to Mees for a long time… I think there is no way back."

Hilgers missed the previous season after an ACL injury and was excluded from the squad. He later trained with Indonesia ahead of a FIFA matchday, but his club status remains unclear. Fans expressed disappointment as the player’s future at Twente appears doubtful.
