Indonesian Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin meets Chinese military officials in Beijing

Indonesian Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin met with General Zhang Shengmin, Vice Chairman of China’s Central Military Commission, in Beijing on September 17 to discuss bilateral defense cooperation and relations. Sjafrie emphasized Indonesia’s ‘free and active’ foreign policy, stating that the nation remains open to dialogue with all friendly countries to serve national interests and regional stability.

Prior to the bilateral meeting, Sjafrie attended the 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, an annual international security and defense event opened by Chinese Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun. During the forum, Sjafrie advocated for the respect of international law, the UN Charter, and multilateralism, stressing that disputes should be resolved through dialogue to ensure a stable and sustainable global security environment.
