Indonesia's Badminton Duo Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri Reach China Open Semifinals

Indonesia’s top men’s doubles pair, Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, advanced to the semifinals of the BWF Super‑1000 China Open 2026 after a straight‑games victory (21‑15, 21‑13) over Korea’s Kang Min‑hyuk and Ki Dong‑ju in the quarter‑finals. Their win made them the sole Indonesian contingent remaining in the tournament, having previously defended their China Open title in 2025 and captured the Japan Open earlier this year.

In the same draw, Indonesia’s other representatives were eliminated: singles player Jonatan Christie fell to Canada’s Victor Lai, singleswoman Putri Kusuma Wardani was beaten by Japan’s Tomoka Miyazaki, and the women’s doubles pair Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum lost to China’s Li Yi Jing/Luo Xu Min. The foursome had reached the quarter‑finals, but their defeats left Fajar/Fikri as the only hope for an Indonesian title.

Fajar/Fikri’s semifinal opponent will be the Chinese duo Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang, whom they have faced previously in the 2025 semifinals. The match will be played at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium in Changzhou, China.
