Indonesian FMCG and craft sectors expand global export reach
Indonesian fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and craft businesses are increasingly accessing international markets through trade agreements and exhibitions. PT Yili Indonesia Dairy, the producer of Joyday ice cream, has successfully exported its products to 19 countries, reporting monthly shipments and an export volume growth of 20–30 percent.
In recognition of its use of free trade agreements (FTA) to expand market access, PT Yili Indonesia Dairy received the Primaniyarta Award 2026 from the Ministry of Trade during the Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2026. The company noted that Indonesia serves as both a significant consumer market and a strategic production base for international supply.
Small and medium enterprises are also finding success through government-supported platforms like TEI. For example, the craft business Craftote, owned by Thio Siujinata, transitioned from local operations to exporting products to Canada after utilizing the expo to connect with international buyers and receive design development support.
