Indonesian Government submits Labor Protection Bill feedback to DPR
The Indonesian government has submitted its List of Problem Inventories (DIM) regarding the Labor Protection Bill to Commission IX of the House of Representatives (DPR RI). The document incorporates feedback from the government, labor unions, and employers to serve as a basis for joint discussions.
Minister of Manpower Yassierli stated that the bill aims to create a comprehensive labor system that balances the interests of workers, businesses, and national development needs. Key areas of focus include workforce planning, vocational training, job placement, industrial relations, occupational safety and health (K3), and labor supervision.
The government emphasized that vocational training requires strategic funding to improve worker competence. Additionally, job placement processes are intended to be objective, transparent, and non-discriminatory, with specific considerations for gender equality, persons with disabilities, vulnerable groups, and residents in underdeveloped regions.
