Indonesian Hajj Quota Corruption Suspect Asrul Azis Taba Files Pre‑Trial Review of KPK Search
Asrul Azis Taba, former commissioner of PT Raudah Eksati Utama and ex‑chair of the Indonesian Hajj‑Umrah travel association (Kesthuri), is one of four suspects in the alleged 2023‑2024 Hajj quota corruption case. On 17 July 2026 he lodged a pre‑trial judicial review (praperadilan) with the South Jakarta District Court, questioning the legality of a forced search conducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The court recorded the case (No. 121/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT SEL) and scheduled a first hearing for 24 July 2026.
The KPK responded that the search was carried out in accordance with applicable laws, was necessary for evidence collection, and adhered to procedural safeguards. This filing marks the latest legal challenge by Asrul Azis, who previously contested his designation as a suspect in the same investigation.
