Indonesian Immigration authorities launch anti-trafficking and data synergy initiatives

The Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration is conducting various regional initiatives to improve public safety and inter-agency coordination. In Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, the regional immigration office is intensifying education efforts to prevent human trafficking and the departure of non-procedural migrant workers. Head of the Yogyakarta Immigration Regional Office, Yuni Santi Nurani, emphasized the importance of verifying the legality of overseas job offers to ensure citizens are not misled by false promises.

To support these efforts, the office utilizes the ‘Immigration for the People’ program, which includes 21 ‘Immigration-Guided Villages’ (Desa Binaan Imigrasi) across the Yogyakarta region to provide counseling and immigration service information.

Separately, in Jakarta, the Tanjung Priok Immigration Office held a socialization event for cross-sector agencies regarding immigration data services. The initiative aims to strengthen coordination and synergy in utilizing immigration data to support government duties. Pamuji Raharja, Head of the Jakarta Immigration Regional Office, noted that the collaboration is intended to create more effective and efficient information exchange while maintaining data security and protection.
