Indonesian industrial firms boost domestic steel and manufacturing capacity

Indonesia is advancing its domestic industrial capabilities through major steel and manufacturing projects. Conrad Petroleum, in coordination with SKK Migas, is preparing for the arrival of a 750-ton Conductor Support Frame (CSF) at Tanjung Priok Port on October 22, 2026. The project aims for a 65 percent domestic component level (TKDN), utilizing steel plates from Krakatau Steel and fabrication services from PT PAL Indonesia.

In the construction sector, PT Garuda Yamato Steel (GYS) is expanding its supply of structural steel to support national infrastructure. Operating from its integrated facility in Cikarang, the company produces seismic-grade steel, such as its ‘GYS Tahan Gempa Plus’ line, designed for earthquake-prone areas. GYS maintains an annual production capacity of 1.2 million tons and provides specialized steel processing services including CNC sawing and drilling.
