Indonesian legislators urge youth organizations to drive economic and social development
Indonesian lawmakers are calling on youth organizations and the younger generation to transition from passive roles to active contributors in regional development through creative economies and social programs.
In Tarakan, Member of Parliament Rahmawati encouraged Gen Z to transform hobbies, such as photography, into profitable businesses. She emphasized that the creative economy relies on talent and innovation, urging young people to move beyond being mere job seekers and instead develop sustainable entrepreneurial ventures in sectors like film, culinary arts, and local culture.
In Sleman, local legislator Budi Sanyoto urged the Karang Taruna youth organization to implement concrete programs that address community social and economic issues. He stressed that the organization must act as a strategic partner to the local government, providing tangible solutions to local problems rather than serving as a mere social gathering space.
